What services can a cleaning company provide? 2000 1333 88Admin

Initially, the answer can seem a little obvious – cleaning – this is actually the question we are asked the most often when calls come into our office.  Cleaning is a very broad term, covering all manner of actions from the hurried 10-minute tidy up before guests arrive, to crime scene cleaning and decontamination.  It isn’t always simple to know what to ask for, or who to call to get what you want, so let’s get into the different types of cleaning services available.

Domestic vs Commercial Cleaning companies

Although there are some companies who offer both services, a cleaning company will usually focus on either providing domestic or commercial cleaning to their clients.

Domestic cleaning is where a company sells their services directly to individual customers, to clean their personal residence or property.

Commercial cleaning, on the other hand, covers cleaning services delivered to businesses, on business premises such as offices, warehouses, retail and hospitality venues.  This can sometimes include residential properties as part of Local Authority contract cleaning multiple occupancy buildings, for example.

Weekly vs Periodic Cleaning

Cleaning companies routinely offer both regular and periodic cleaning.  As you would imagine, regular cleaning refers to a specification of cleaning carried out on a regular basis, usually multiple times per week as standard.  Set operatives are assigned to a site and given a recurrent specification on the premises to be cleaned.  Periodic cleaning is the umbrella term for either one-off or infrequent deep cleans, such as high level cleaning or window cleaning.  Your cleaning company will send operatives with the specific expertise for the clean required, from their bank of trained cleaning staff.

Different types of cleaning services

  • Often carried out daily and during weekdays, this is regular cleaning of office spaces, including:

    • Common and reception areas
    • Office spaces and desks
    • Touchpoint cleaning
    • Washrooms, toilets and changing rooms
    • Corridors, stairs and landings
  • This involves deep cleaning of commercial/academic kitchen areas including:

    • Full deep clean of walls, surfaces and flooring
    • Deep cleaning of equipment, including ovens, fridges and basins
    • Canopy, extraction and filter cleaning to TR-19 standards
    • Supply and fixing of inspection hatches
  • Cleaning options can be broken down by flooring type

Internal Hard flooring – This covers wooden, marble, laminate, vinyl, and altro-flooring.  Cleaning methods vary by type, but include stripping/resealing, rotary cleaning, scarifying, microfibre mopping and anti-static treatments.

Carpet – Whether fully fitted carpet or carpet tiles, these can be cleaned with hot water extraction or Texatherm technology and deodorised to clean deep down into the pile, removing dirt and grit which routine vacuuming cannot reach, keeping your carpets in top condition.

  • This is the removal of unwanted graffiti from external and internal surfaces with dedicated safe chemicals.

  • Biohazard cleaning is the use of specialist cleaning methods, equipment and products to tackle substances which can cause threat or harm to humans and animals.  The recent Coronavirus pandemic really brought this type of cleaning into the spotlight as companies ranging from retail, hospitality, manufacturing and the public sector suddenly identified the need to eradicate virus presence via these methods.

Alongside pandemic response, biohazard also covers the following:

    • Crime Scene decontamination (including SOCO tents)
    • Police vehicle, cell and court room decontamination
    • Hygiene clean to remove blood and other bodily fluids
    • Hygiene cleans following removal of sharps and hypodermic waste
  • This is the term used for any cleaning at height.  High Level cleaning is often carried out using access equipment and telescopic space vacuum machinery, usually in a factory or manufacturing setting.

  • Involving the full deep cleaning of walls, floors and fittings with industry standard products in your business washrooms, with consumable refresh service also available, this service is essential and often a key factor when customers and service users are assessing the “cleanliness” of your commercial premises.

  • This covers a huge range of glass cleaning options including

    • External and internal windows
    • Glass apex roofing and conservatories
    • Reach-and-wash and abseiling methods.

As you can see, there are a wide variety of cleaning services available for you to choose from when you engage a cleaning company to help you achieve your best level of cleaning for your business.
